The full day Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo safari is the strongest single day on the island. You get both of São Miguel’s headline crater lakes, several ridge viewpoints, and time on the ground rather than in transit. If you have two days, add Furnas or Nordeste.

June through September brings the warmest, driest weather and the longest days. April, May, and October are quieter, greener, and cheaper, with more changeable skies. Tours run year round, and because the island’s weather shifts by the hour, guides adjust routes to find the clearest conditions.
