Experience Nordeste on an off-road safari!
Explore the wild beauty of São Miguel’s eastern side on this full-day jeep tour through Nordeste, Povoação, and the island’s most untouched landscapes. From dramatic cliffs and waterfalls to peaceful villages and coastal views, this tour offers a deep dive into one of the island’s quietest regions.
We begin in Ponta Delgada and head to Miradouro de Santa Iria, a classic north coast viewpoint with striking views of the sea and surrounding hills. From there, we continue to Ribeira dos Caldeirões, a lush natural park known for its waterfalls, watermills, and botanical beauty — a great spot to stretch your legs and take in the atmosphere.
Our journey continues through the eastern countryside, stopping at the Vigia das Baleias (Whale Lookout), a historic lookout point used during the whaling era, and then to Piscina e Miradouro da Ribeira do Guilherme, a quiet waterfall and natural pool area perfect for photos and a peaceful pause.
Next, we visit the charming Vila do Nordeste, one of the oldest and most traditional towns on the island, followed by a scenic stop at Ponta do Sossego, known for its beautifully maintained gardens and views over the cliffs and ocean.
We then make our way into the Serra da Tronqueira, a mountain pass surrounded by native forest and a great opportunity to see the wilder side of São Miguel. The day ends with a visit to Vila da Povoação, the island’s first settlement, where we stop by the Marina and Municipal Pool area, before heading back to Ponta Delgada.
This tour offers a chance to explore the quieter, hidden side of São Miguel, perfect for those looking to experience a more authentic and peaceful part of the island.
