Explore Furnas on a full-day jeep safari in São Miguel!

Discover the lush valleys, volcanic wonders, and traditional culture of São Miguel on this full-day jeep tour to Furnas, with stops at scenic viewpoints, tea plantations, and historic towns along the way.

We begin in Ponta Delgada, heading east along the north coast to Miradouro de Santa Iria, one of the island’s most iconic viewpoints with sweeping views over the ocean and green cliffs.

Our next stop is at Chã da Gorreana, home to the oldest tea plantation in Europe. Here, you’ll have a chance to walk through the tea fields, visit the factory, and enjoy a taste of locally grown green and black tea.

We then make our way inland to Pico do Ferro viewpoint, overlooking the impressive Lagoa das Furnas, a crater lake surrounded by volcanic activity. From there, we descend to the village of Furnas, where geothermal steam rises from the ground and traditional “cozido” stew is slow-cooked in volcanic soil. You’ll have time to explore the area, stroll around the lake, or try local delicacies during the lunch break.

In the afternoon, we head to the south coast to visit Vila Franca do Campo, once the capital of São Miguel, and stop at the Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Paz — a peaceful hilltop chapel with panoramic views over the town and the coastline.

The tour ends with a scenic drive back to Ponta Delgada, offering a mix of nature, culture, and local flavor along the way.

You can schedule lunch directly with the jeep driver.
